Making Christmas Bread:

In early November, we traveled to Geneseo, IL to Adam's grandparents farm to make the age-old Nelson tradition- Christmas Bread. I guess my family made Christmas cookies, and after all that frosting, it seemed like a long day- but nothing compares to the time and energy that goes into this dish!!

Grandma Cori and Great-Grandma Lois were up at 6am getting the potato dough ready, and did not go to sleep until that evening around 3AM! Good grief!! And while Christmas bread was the focus of the day- we enjoyed getting to hang out with family, watch the kids play, and catch-up.

Most of all, Wylie enjoyed great-grandpa Willard and trips on the tractor with Adam. Wylie is obsessed with anything with motors or wheels. Despite the frigid weather, Wylie never turned down another trip on the tractor, and often waited at the back door until someone was willing to give him another spin!

Sounds like you guys had a great time! We were so disappointed when we heard that this had happened without us being there. I love traditions like that! Can't wait to see you guys next week.
