This morning, Wylie went to his very first day of preschool. He has had the luxury of staying home with Adam for the entire summer, and spending only 2 days a week with a babysitter in our home prior to that. But he has been chatting about going to school for months ("like a big kid", he says) and we felt like he was ready.
If you know me, you know that we toured about 15 schools before choosing this one. Wylie walked in this morning, looked around, and said, "see ya, mommy!" and he kissed and hugged me goodbye. I smiled, walked out the door, and... cried. Maybe a mostly happy cry, proud of how big and brave he is, impressed with his confidence and independence. I'd say it was about 90% good tears, about 10% sad tears that our baby is now a BIG KID. Time really flies- whether you want it to or not!
When Adam picked him up this afternoon, he was tearful and said he was "sad to be at school". Talk about heartbreaking! But his teachers said he was wonderful, polite, and a piece of cake. That's our boy! We'll see what Monday brings:)
